Situation

A global automotive technology supplier faced volatile markets, supply disruption and rising product complexity. Planning was fragmented, with no end-to-end view across planning, warehousing and transport.

Leadership needed an independent view of where the supply chain stood, which platforms could support the target model, and a business case for the investment.

Intervention

Phase 1: Assess and select

  • Engagement lead for a global assessment across end-to-end planning and logistics execution.
  • Operating model redesign covering business processes, KPIs and organisation.
  • Vendor selection for planning and logistics execution platforms, with a shortlist of five per capability, plus the business case, implementation roadmap and system architecture landscape.

Phase 2: Blueprint and deliver

  • Solution blueprint. We worked with the platform vendor to define the blueprint for the chosen integrated business planning platform.
  • Multi-release delivery of an end-to-end solution across the planning rhythm: demand planning, weekly master planning, IBP, daily production planning, multi-echelon inventory optimisation (MEIO) and a control tower.

Result

  • A funded, implemented platform decision. The recommended integrated business planning platform was selected, funded and delivered.
  • One planning rhythm on one platform, from daily production planning to IBP, with a control tower across it.
  • Client-reported outcomes: significant improvements in inventory, planner productivity, premium freight, IT landscape cost and customer delivery levels.
